Bloomington, MN - Day two of the Summer Celly League featured an uptick to the pace and tempo in the games from Tuesday which was excellent, and tonight was even better.  TRIA defeated Ace Hardware 3-2 in a tightly contested game that went to a shootout while Pull Tab Sport made their debut and fell Tradition Mortgage by a score of 6-1

TRIA 3  Ace Hardware 2 (SO)

The evening's first game started as a defensive tussle and featured a fast-paced tight checking game that TRIA captured in a 3-2 shootout win over Ace Hardware.  Bria Parent potted the game winner in the 4-round of a shootout to win the thriller in the skills competition.

Ace Hardware flew out of the box with a quick goal by Brittyn Fleming opened the scoring with her 2nd goal of the season and first of the game just 3 minutes into the game. Displaying the chemistry of the opening game, Ace caught TRIA early who has a  high compete level on their roster which  was on full display from the Bloomington Ice Garden on Thursday evening.

Madeline Wethington, one of the more competitive players in the league evened the game up about 5 minutes later with a quick blast from the slot through the five-hole of  goalie Lucy Morgan.  Ace, who erupted for 7 goals in their opening night win over Lake Cowgirl, reclaimed the lead at 2-1 on Fleming’s 2nd goal of the game.

Sam Broz, the incoming freshman to Brown University via The Blake School notched her first goal of the season and it was on a tremendous move in the shootout, beating Minnesota Whitecap backup goaltender Allie Morse to level the game at two midway through the second half.

The game was physical and contested from the opening faceoff and played to the final buzzer.

“It was really fast, really competitive,” said Broz.  “It was definitely very physical like puck protection, it was like can I really be safe with the puck? You always have to have our head on a swivel, you have to protect the puck in front of you.”

The game ended as a tie in regulation and at that point Ace had not trailed through 2 games. TRIA saw to it that they captured the first lead Ace would surrender with the Parent goal to ice the win.

TRIA 6  Pull Tab Sports 0

It was baptism by fire for the Pull Tab Sports team as they made their season debut when the other four teams opened the five team league on Tuesday.  Tradition Mortgage won a crisp game by a score of 6-1 to answer their opening night loss to TRIA.

Six different players factored in the scoring for Tradition who saw Skyler Vetter close the door in net making 16 second half saves.  Hailey Hanson was perfect in goal for Tradition Mortgage making eight first half saves. Hanson has not allowed a goal in her two Celly League appearances and is looking every bit the part of a Division I goaltender.  Hailey Eikos had a goal and an assist as 11 different players picked up a point in the win.

The Summer Celly League returns to action on Tuesday evening with game one at 5:15pm from the Bloomington Ice Garden featuring Lake Cowgirl and Pull Tab Sports.  The night cap features Tradition Mortgage and Ace Hardware at 6:45pm.
