TRIA 3  Lake Cowgirl 1

TRIA held to their defensive theme on the year as the one goal against ticked up their three game total to 4 allowed on the season.  TRIA’s Paetyn Levis had a goal and assisted on Audrey Wethington’s game winning goal.  It was the defensive game and level of compete that Levis noted was in full force to open the game.

“The first couple of shifts there was a lot of body contact and I wasn’t really expecting that out of the first couple of shifts but think it set the tone well for the rest of the game,” Levis said.  “It was a very defensive minded game.  There was a bunch of blocked shots which you don’t always see in summer hockey, so it was awesome and a good team win.”

Through three games played, TRIA is third in the league in goals and they have relied on gritty play and quality goaltending by committee.  Each goalie plays one half per game in the Summer Celly League and for TRIA, they have used four different goaltenders this season.

TRIA will be in action next Tuesday from the Bloomington Ice Garden against Pull Tab Sports at 5:15pm.

ACE Hardware 5  Pull Tab Sports 2

Ace Hardware defeated Pull Tab Sports 5-2 with Ella Boerger notching a pair of goals, one which was an empty netter to ice the contest, and added an assist.  The win solidified second place in the Summer Celly League Standings for Ace.

Boerger has settled in nicely with her team as the 2023 Ms. Hockey award winner is second on the club in points with 6, one behind leader Brittyn Fleming, and tops on her team in assists with 4.  She has great vision and that is evidenced by the number of helpers she has been credited with but her skating and overall game has fit right in with the older players who have plenty of NCAA games under their belts.

After the game Boeger discussed how much fun it is to play with the talent in the league. “It’s just a blast playing with all these talented girls and I am glad to be here,” Boerger said.

When asked about the level of confidence she is gaining in playing at this level, Boerger deflected to her teammates and said, “It’s just a lot of fun and so many fun and awesome girls and they all do such a good job in being so welcoming to all the young girls and just showing us what college hockey will be like so, I’m super excited.”

Boerger is like so many other players in the league that have been able to get more than a glimpse of what it will take for her to succeed at the next level and the leadership shown by the veterans in the league has been refreshing to see. It can be observed with simple things on the ice, on the bench, and in the locker room.

Whitney Tuttle and Madison Brown added goals for Ace to go along with Boerger and Fleming's goals while Denisa Krizova and Mak Langei scored for Pull Tab sports.
