Tradition & Ace win in entertaining games
Edina, MN - The Celly League returned to action this week with a set of games on Tuesday evening from Braemar Arena. The MNHockeyTv team made its league debut against Tradition Mortgage and fell by a score of 5-1. The Dangle League stepped on the ice for a game in the middle of the two Celly League games; the night cap featured Pellici Ace Hardware and Remax Advantage Plus.
Tradition Mortgage 5 - MNHockeyTv 1
Ana Davis (BSU) had 2 goals and an assist to pace Tradition Mortgage to a 5-1 win over MNHockeyTv. It was a crisp game between the two teams with the pace and tempo notched up from the week one action at Braemar Arena. Isa Goettl (BSU) opened the scoring as she connected with Suzy Higuchi (Yale) on a rink length rush that closed out with both players crashing the net area with Goettl there to hammer home the game's first goal in the first minute.
Zoe Lopez (MSU) forced a turnover deep in the MNHTv zone, made a quick mover with her hands and opened up to snip the top short hand site over Huber. Another turnover high in the MNHTv zone led to an open look to the high slot by Ana Davis (BSU)
The first half saw a lot of chances each way and MNHTv’s Ida Huber (LIU) was sharp in her play in making 12 first half saves. Her counterpart was equally sharp in goal as Hailey Hansen (MSU) turned aside 13 MNHTv shots to keep them off the board. Hansen had a long scoreless string in the league’s first season, three summers ago and continued to sparkle in Celly League action.
Tradition (1-1) took the 3-0 lead to the second half and went up by a score of 4-0 on Davis’ second goal of the game. Grace Delmonico (SCSU) broke the shutout midway through the second half as she beat Tradition goalie Ashlyn Hazlett (BSU) with a great second effort goal. Hazlett made 7 saves in her half of play. Maddy Christian (PSU) rounded out the scoring with a terrific set up at the goal mouth by Addison Andre (Franklin Pierce) as she tapped home the pass for the final margin. Anika Lavender (St. Michaels) was solid in goal for MNHTv in making 11 saves for MNHTv in goal.
Pelicci Ace Hardware 6 Remax 3
It was a balanced attack by Pelicci Ace Hardware as the rode six players with multi-point games and a total of 11 players picking up points in the game that allowed them to defeat Remax Advantage Plus
Campbell Heger (Sacred Heart), Senja Leeper (BSU), Avery Lian (Brown), Marie Moran (SCSU) and Avery Ferrell (SCSU) each potted a goal and an assist while Myah Krueger (SCSU) had 2 assists to pace Pelicci Ace Hardware to the 5-2 win over Remax Advantage Plus. Goalie Sedona Blair (UNH) was sharp in goal making 31 saves in the win for Ace that elevated their to 2-0 record.
The first half featured Ace jumping out to the 2-0 lead on goals by Meredith Jensen (Dartmouth) and Heger. Remax pushed back and solved Blair who looked to be in mid-season form. Delaney Fleming (Cornell) took a feed from sister Sawyer Fleming (Princeton) to cut the Ace Lead in half. Then less than a minute later it was Quinlyn Borner (LIndenwood) from Delaney Fleming to tie the game at two goals apiece. Ace erupted for three unanswered and cruised to the win, dropping Remax’s record to 0-2 on the season.
