Roberts goes off in Lake Cowboy Win and MNHTv picks up first win.

Edina, MN - First place was on the line between Pellici Ace Hardware and Lake Cowboy in the opening game of the Celly League action on Tuesday night. Katelyn Roberts erupted for six points including a hat trick to pace Lake Cowboy to a convincing 9-4 win over Ace Hardware.   Game two featured Remax Advantage Plus and the winless MNHockeyTv.  A defensively played 4-2 win was delivered by MNHockeyTv with some dramatic goals.

Pelicci Ace Hardware 9 - Lake Cowboy 4

Two teams that have developed a budding rivalry through the two full seasons and now the early portion of the third season of the Celly League found themselves in a familiar position atop the Celly League Standings after two games.

Katelyn Roberts (PSU) has been a consistent contributor to the goal scoring and point column and on Tuesday night, she was the story, earning player of the game honors after scoring 3g-3a-6pts on the evening. Roberts now tied with Remax Advantage Plus’s Delaney Fleming (Cornell) with 8 points.

Roberts is a threat off the rush as she shoots the puck well and keeps the defense and goaltenders on their heels.  Many times, she utilizes a player like Maddie Kaiser (MIN) and freezes both defensive parties and rips one past the goaltender.

After taking a 2-1 lead on goals by Senja Leeper (BSU) and Avery Farrell (SCSU) Ace was forced to fend off the offensive surge of Lake Cowboy who would go on to score 5 unanswered goals and take a 6-2 lead.  They never laid back and kept the pedal to the medal to close out with the decisive win and sole possession of first place at 3-0.

Ellie Zakrajsheck (UMD) went to work and scored back-to-back goals in the five goal outburst and Bella Fanale (MIN) showed her goal scoring acumen with a hat trick of her own and four points on the evening.  Zakrajsheck had (2g-1a-3pts) in the win that featured 5 Lake Cowgirl players with multi-points and a total of 10 players getting on the score sheet.

MNHockey Tv 4 Remax Advantage Plus 2

MNHockeyTv found their way to the win column with a hardworking 4-2 victory over Remax Advantage Plus. Newly acquired Grace Wolfe (SCSU) was a difference maker picking up 2g-1a-3pts on the game.  The play of the game and for sure the play of the week belongs to Grace Delmonico (SCSU) who scored the tie-breaking 2-2 goal with a sick display of hands and it held up as the Huskie teammates went to work in getting it done.

Ryane Kearns (LIU) had 2 assists in the win as well.  Goalie Anniker Lavender (STM) made 19 saves while only allowing two against on Tuesday night.  In doing so, she posted a .905 save percentage for the evening.
