Bloomington, MN - TRIA continued their Summer Celly League roll with a 4-0 win over Pull Tab Sports in a competitive and fast paced game to take the opening game of Tuesday evening’s action.  Lake Cowgirl skated past Tradition Mortgage with a well-rounded 5-0 shutout win in the second game of Tuesday evening’s action.

TRIA 4  Pull Tab Sports 0

The Summer Celly League (SCL) leading TRIA continued their winning ways with a combined 30 save shutout by goalies Calla Frank and Alexa Dobchuck  Jada Habisch had two goals while Brieja Parent and a goal and assist including the game winning goal late in the first half, the game’s first goal that held up.

The defensive minded TRIA (4-0) entered the game allowing just 4 goals against  in three games played and held to that trend as Calla Frank made her Celly League debut.  Coming off an injury that featured surgery to both hips, Frank was cleared for action and appeared in her first competitive game in 20 months.  Frank was fantastic in making 17 first half Pull Tab Sports shots.

“It felt pretty good,” Frank said after the game when asked what it felt like to get back on the ice after a year-and-a-half off the ice in competitive action.  “I mean, I was a little nervous going into it because it has been a while but one of my old teammates decided to let like a nice two-on-oh to come down for the first shot to get me back into it.”

The game featured great pace and a high level of compete delivered from both teams.

Josie Bothun was equally impressive in goal for Pull Tab Sports, making 17 first half saves as it was a 1-0 lead that TRIA took to the break.  Bothun finished with 28 saves in 60-minutes of play.

Three third period TRIA goals were too much for Pull Tab Sports to overcome as Habish netted here back-to-back goals and Cara Sajevic finished off the scoring for TRIA. Paetyn Levis added two assists giving her 6 points (2g-4a) in four games played.

It was a team win for TRIA once again but the evening belonged to the goaltending duo of Frank and Dobchuk.

Lake Cowgirl vs Tradition Mortgages

The battle for third place was on from the beginning of the second SCL game of the evening from the Bloomington Ice Garden.  Lake Cowgirl won another fast paced game loaded with puck movement by a score of 5-0 over Tradition Mortgage. The win evened Lake Cowgirl’s record at 2-2 tying them with Tradition Mortgage for third place in the standings.

Jonna Albers scored two goals, both similar, as she first picked a pocket in the neutral zone and walked in on Hailey Hanson and delivered a series of moves that not only froze the Celly League but Hanson too for the 1-0 lead 1:09 into the first half.   Late in the period Katelyn Roberts took a trailing pass into the zone about the top of the right circle and wired one past Hanson for the 2-0 Lake Cowgirl lead.

Roberts scored her second of the game and fourth of the season in the second half. Peyton Hemp won a draw and Allie Franco got the puck to Roberts who settled it down and fired it past second-half Tradition Mortgage goalie Skyler Vetter for the 3-0 Lake Cowgirl lead.

Albers picked up her second of the game with another pocket picked, but this time it was deep in the zone and Lake Cowgirl rode off to the 4-0 lead after she dealt a nifty move on Vetter..  Albers had 20 points in 24 games for the Minnesota Whitecaps last year and also potted 3 Isabel Cup playoff goals.  Her quick hands were on full display at the Bloomington Ice Garden on Tuesday evening.

Maddie Jurgenson rounded out the scoring as Sedona Blair and Alexandra Pellicci combined for the 23 shutout.  It was Pellici’s first game back after suffering an upper body injury in the first game of the season.
